The
Academy was originally founded in 1876 with a class of nine students
on board the Revenue Cutter Dobbin. In 1932, a permanent Academy was
built on land donated by the New London community. Enrollment at the
Academy numbers approximately 700 men and women, all of whom sail at
one time or another on America's only active duty square rigger. The
Eagle is a three-masted sailing Barque with 21,350 square feet of
sail.

The
Naval Academy chapter of the National Eagle Scout Association is
composed of midshipman from the US Naval Academy who are Eagle
Scouts of the Boy Scouts of America. Our main event is our Jamboree
which is held every January. We bring in around a thousand Scouts
and Scouters and teach them a merit badge for which we have the
facilities and that is not normally taught. We are also available to
give tours of the Naval Academy every weekend to Scout troops that
want to come and visit the "yard."

Each
summer hundreds of Scouts and Explorers enjoy unique backcountry
experiences in northern Maine. The area encompasses Mount Katahdin,
the Allagash Waterway, a portion of the Appalachian Trail and the
Penobscot watershed - more than 10,000 square miles of the north
Maine woods which remains much as Henry David Thoreau saw it 140
years ago. A highly proficient guide is assigned to help each crew
enjoy a successful adventure. Anytime from mid-June until mid-August
is available for summer treks. The optimum length of stay is 8 to 10
days to participate in a variety of adventurous activities. The
minimum required length of stay is 6 days. There is no maximum stay.

Bear
Mountain is the flagship of the PIPC system. Within it's 5,067 acres
are Hessian Lake, Trailside Museums and Wildlife Center, the Bear
Mountain Inn and Lodge Complex, picnic groves, play fields,
basketball courts, a swimming pool and bathhouse, an outdoor skating
rink used for both ice and roller skating, hiking trails, Perkins
tower atop Bear Mountain, and Iona Island, a National Estuarine
Reserch Reserve and National Landmark. Bear Mountain plays host to
the PIPC Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks display held on
the Friday before the 4th of July each year.

Choose from tent sites,
RV hookups, and rustic, log, or extended log cabins. Some campsite
amenities include electricity, water, sewer, cable TV, picnic table,
and fir grills. Cool off in one of our two sparkling swimming pools,
or enjoy watching the little ones splash around in our kiddie wading
pool. There's also a playground, game room, country store, and
self-service laundry. Complimentary shuttle bus service to
HERSHEYPARK is available seasonally - Days of operation may vary.
Guests of HERSHEY Highmeadow Campground will receive preferred
pricing for tickets to Hershey Museum and Hershey Gardens. Discount
tickets to HERSHEYPARK and DUTCH WONDERLAND are available.

Summit Base is a unique collection of challenging
outdoor activities. Surrounded by the tremendous
opportunities of the Adirondack Park, our program creates a
full experience for any skill level.
Our trek program will carry you anywhere in the Park. In
camp, you can rock climb, participate in Project COPE,
use our indoor climbing wall or take advantage of our
guide services within our local mountain ranges.

Read Scout Reservation in the Adirondack Park of New York State.
